Solidarity With Coventry Anti-Academies Campaign

Tile Hill Wood School is scheduled to become an Academy on 01 July and neighbouring Woodlands School is due to change on 01 August.

They have called two day strikes, staggered over three days.  Tile Hill Wood (NUT and NASUWT) strike on Tue 7th and Wed 8th June,  Woodlands (NUT) strike on Wed 8th and Thurs 9th.

The management of the schools have so far not listened to their requests despite the previous 3 strikes, so we must make sure that we get the community campaign building and get more parents involved.  To this end, on the 7th, Tile Hill Wood staff will leaflet Woodlands parents and pupils and on the 9th the roles will be reversed.  There will also be a city centre rally on the 8th to appeal to parents and community members.

What you can do to help:

1. Write to the Tile Hill Wood chair of Governors.  Also encourage anybody else you know to do the same and explain why you think Tile Hill Wood should not become an Academy.  We are requesting that at the very least they delay their application for 12 months to allow for a full consultation.
