Support the Strikes!

On November 30th, up to 3 million public sector workers will take action to defend their pensions as part of the largest co-ordinated industrial action since the 1926 General Strike, possibly even ever.

This page is dedicated to providing resources to help you to support the strikes.  Please have a look at the actions below, work out what you can do, then send us updates with all the ideas we have missed!

Building Support for the Strikes

- In your Workplace / Local Community

• Order copies of the Trades Council newspaper to distribute free of charge - You can order copies by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone (01865 558145).  This special issue has a suggested voluntary donation of £1 on the front which you can use to raise money for the strikes (see below).
• Make a collection for the strikes - Download the ODTUC collection sheet and take it round your workplace, social club, friends and family, or down the pub.  Please return the completed sheet and money to the address at the bottom of the form.
• Donate directly to the fund by sending a cheque (payable to 'ODTUC') to ODTUC c/o R. Kelsall, PCS Office, E1A LCS, Bicester, OX25 0LP.  Please mark your cheque 'strike fund' on the back.
• Help out on a stall - Help us publicise the pensions campaign and the reason for the strikes.  Details of stalls can be found at www.oxfordshireanticutsalliance.org.uk or you can This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

• Spread the word - Speak to your friends and family about the strikes.  Write a letter to your local paper.  Phone in to the local radio station.  Information and arguments in favour of the strike action can be found here.

- In your Union Branch / Community Group

• Pass the Trades Council's model motion in support of the strikes (download word pdf).
• Publicise details of the strike action to your members and supporters (download poster).
• Make an organisational donation to the strike fund by sending a cheque (payable to 'ODTUC') to ODTUC c/o R. Kelsall, PCS Office, E1A LCS, Bicester, OX25 0LP.  Please mark your cheque 'strike fund' on the back.
